Gensol Engineering Ltd. announced on Wednesday that it has, in collaboration with Matrix Gas & Renewables Ltd., bagged an order to set up India’s first green hydrogen valley project in Pune.

According to a bourse filing, Gensol-Matrix will set up the green hydrogen production plant on build, own and operate basis for the specialty chemical sector using electrolysis.

National Chemical Laboratories in Pune’s Kurkumbh region will facilitate the green hydrogen valley.

“The government of India has taken a great step in promoting these hydrogen valleys through the Department of Science & Technology. We are going to supply green hydrogen to the specialty chemical sector in Pune, Maharashtra, on a round-the-clock basis,” said Anmol Jaggi, managing director of Gensol Engineering Ltd., in the statement.

The same team promotes Gensol and Matrix, and they will continue to collaborate in green hydrogen and its derivatives, including green steel and green ammonia domain, taking advantage of each entity’s skill sets.

“We are committed to contributing to India’s net-zero targets by achieving the key aspects of the National Green Hydrogen Mission,” said Chirag Kotecha, whole-time director at Matrix Gas and Renewables Ltd.
