Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd., a prominent Mumba-based renewable energy player, announced on Sunday that it bagged an order worth about ₹1,200 crore ($141 million) for a 500-megawatt alternating current capacity solar photovoltaic project in Gujarat.

According to a press statement, the company will undertake the design, engineering, procurement and construction of the balance-of-system components with a single-point responsibility.

The BOS includes all the components and infrastructure necessary to support the operation of a solar power system, excluding the solar panels themselves.

The release further stated that the project includes a three-year comprehensive operations and maintenance contract, establishing the company’s growing foothold in India’s renewable energy transition.

“This prestigious order reflects the trust customers place in our team and our commitment to supporting India’s clean energy goals, particularly in Gujarat,” said Amit Jain, global CEO of Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Group, in the statement.

Jain emphasized the importance of sustainable energy in addressing global climate challenges while driving economic growth and job creation in one of the world’s largest energy markets.

“We remain confident about the growth of India’s renewable sector and our ability to contribute significantly to this transformation,” he added.

Earlier this month, the company secured a repeat order worth ₹500 crore from a private independent power producer to supply, install, and commission a 305 MW AC PV plant in Rajasthan.

“We have been making strong in-roads in the domestic Private IPP market this year, and this new project win reflects our strong positioning and bears testament to our domestic value proposition,” Jain said then.

As the demand for renewable energy continues to rise, Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd is well-positioned to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the sector.
