IIT Roorkee, Uzbekistan’s SSU to Create PG Program for Sustainable Future
IIT Roorkee and Samarkand State University will foster research in hydrology, environmental science, renewable energy and sustainable development goals.
The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and Uzbekistan’s Samarkand State University have partnered to launch a joint master’s degree program and promote research in critical fields of sustainability.
According to a statement, both institutions will foster research in hydrology, environmental science, renewable energy and sustainable development goals.
IIT Roorkee Director Kamal Kishore Pant and SSU Rector Rustam Ibragimovich signed the agreement in the presence of key faculty members of both institutions.
The joint program is a master’s degree in technology that will commence in July next year.
The statement added that the program will focus on tackling critical global challenges such as water scarcity, climate change and environmental degradation, providing students and faculty at SSU with advanced knowledge in water resource management modeling and sustainability.
IIT Roorkee’s Pant highlighted that the partnership would contribute to sustainable solutions for water and environmental issues, boosting academic excellence and societal impact.
This synergy sets a benchmark for Indo-Uzbek educational collaborations and is expected to significantly enhance both institutions’ global standing.
“The IIT Roorkee-SSU paves the way for innovative academic initiatives that will benefit future generations and foster deeper India-Uzbekistan relations,” said Vimal Chandra Srivastava, dean of international relations of IIT Roorkee, in the statement.
SSU’s Ibragimovich emphasized that the agreements reflect both universities’ dedication to addressing urgent climate challenges and fostering a platform for innovative research and education.
