Jakson Engineers Commits $240M to Bolster Solar Manufacturing
Jakson Engineers Ltd. is investing Rs 2,000 crore to set up a 2.5 GW solar cell plant and expanded 2,000 MW solar module facility.
Jakson Engineers Ltd., a subsidiary of the Noida-based Jakson Group, has announced a significant investment of Rs 2,000 crore ($240 million) to bolster its solar manufacturing capabilities.
According to a company statement, the funds will be utilized to establish a new 2.5 gigawatts solar cell manufacturing plant and expand its existing solar module facility to 2,000 megawatts.
The expansion, which will be implemented in phases, is expected to significantly enhance Jakson’s ability to cater to the surging demand for solar energy solutions and contribute to India’s ambitious renewable energy targets.
“This expansion not only strengthens our position in the market but also underscores Jakson’s remarkable growth and long-standing commitment to sustainability,” said Sundeep Gupta, vice chairman and managing director of Jakson Group, in the statement.
Gupta added: “Our company has been consistently scaling new heights in the solar manufacturing sector. This move further solidifies our commitment to becoming a fully integrated solar solutions provider.”
The new solar cell plant is anticipated to commence operations within the next 15 months, while the module plant expansion is projected to be completed in six months.
This strategic investment will strengthen Jakson’s position in the solar market and create 1,200 new jobs, providing a much-needed boost to the local economy.

With the country’s current solar cell manufacturing capacity at just 7 GW, the company’s expansion will help bridge the gap between imports and domestic production — a crucial step toward achieving AatmaNirbhar Bharat.
JEL aims to become a 5,000 MW integrated solar wafer, cell, and module manufacturer in alignment with India’s ambitious goal of achieving net zero emissions.
