Abu Dhabi Mobility Launches Digital Tool to Boost Maritime ESG Goals
Abu Dhabi launches MARSDNA, a digital tool to streamline ESG tracking for the maritime industry, advancing sustainability and global compliance efforts.
Abu Dhabi Mobility, formerly known as the Integrated Transport Centre, announced on Tuesday its partnership with Abu Dhabi Maritime, part of AD Ports Group, to launch a new digital tool aimed at helping stakeholders meet their ESG goals.
According to a press statement, the tool allows maritime businesses and organizations to measure their standing in national and international ESG metrics. It provides near-instant, customized recommendations to strengthen their future efforts.
Developed by Maqta Technologies Group, MARSDNA, an acronym for Maritime Sustainability DNA, offers a streamlined approach to tracking ESG performance.
Through a free questionnaire, users can measure their compliance with national and global standards, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the International Maritime Organization benchmarks.
The tool’s design consolidates complex ESG metrics into accessible insights, providing tailored reports to help maritime businesses assess and improve their sustainability strategies.
In its initial phase, MARSDNA targets five key sectors: shipping companies, ports and terminal operators, freight forwarders and cargo beneficiaries, marine and offshore services, and marina operators. Future updates are expected to broaden its reach across the maritime value chain.
“MARSDNA exemplifies AD Ports Group’s dedication to championing sustainable development through world-class digital solutions,” said Noura Al Dhaheri, CEO of Maqta Technologies Group and Digital Cluster at AD Ports Group. “Digitalization is a potent force in driving collective progress, helping users conceptualize and achieve environmental objectives.”
A Broader Commitment to Sustainability
The introduction of MARSDNA aligns with a series of sustainability-focused initiatives undertaken by AD Ports Group in 2024.
Earlier this month, the company, in partnership with French shipping giant CMA CGM, inaugurated an eco-friendly container terminal at Khalifa Port.
The terminal, developed under a 35-year concession agreement, is designed with rail connectivity and advanced environmental features. It marks a significant milestone for Khalifa Port, boosting its container capacity by 23 percent to nearly 10 million TEUs annually.
This expansion enhances the port’s position as a pivotal gateway for the region and underscores AD Ports Group’s commitment to green growth.
As the maritime industry navigates its transition toward sustainability, such tools represent a critical step in fostering accountability and innovation.
