IKEA India achieves 100% Goods Deliveries through EVs in Major Cities
The company plans to achieve 100 percent EV deliveries across all its operations by 2025, advancing the large-scale EV fleet. It aims to halve greenhouse emissions by 2030.
Swedish home furnishings brand IKEA India announced on Tuesday that it had achieved 100% utility of electric vehicles in its deliveries across Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune.
According to the United News of India, this initiative marks a significant step in the company’s commitment to sustainable business practices in the country.
The agency reported that Mumbai and Delhi NCR will soon go 100 percent electric with their last-mile deliveries.
The home furnishing major said it was also piloting same-day delivery in Hyderabad and plans to scale it up in all its markets in the coming year.
Beginning its brush with electric vehicles in 2019, the company has steadily increased its green delivery capabilities, moving from 28 percent adoption in 2023 to 80 percent this year.
It underlines the company’s resolve to reduce its carbon footprint and set new benchmarks for environmentally responsible operations in India, the news agency said.
“This is just the first of the many milestones in that effort, and we are proud to lead the EV journey from our foundational years in India,” said Susanne Pulverer, CEO and chief sustainability officer of IKEA India.
She added: “We strongly believe that profit and planet can be co-created and will continue to lead with this mindset.”
The company plans to achieve 100 percent EV deliveries across all its operations by 2025, advancing the large-scale EV fleet. Globally, IKEA aims to become climate-positive, halve greenhouse emissions across the value chain by 2030, and reach net zero by 2050.
