Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding with Tata Motors on Thursday to set up 200 fast-charging stations for electric commercial vehicles in all metro cities.

According to a statement, the MoU expands its ongoing collaboration to provide mobility solutions for small CVs.

As part of this initiative, both companies will provide exclusive charging tariffs for Tata Motors’ electric CV owners, resulting in lower operating costs and increased profitability for its customers.

With the planned expansion of the charging network, eCV users nationwide will soon benefit from access to almost 1,000 strategically located fast chargers.

“We’re pleased to strengthen our partnership with Tata Power to transform the electric commercial vehicle landscape by ensuring ease of access of fast chargers at convenient locations across the country,” said Vinay Pathak, vice president and business head of small CVs and pickups division at Tata Motors.

Pathak added that the company has endeavored not only to engineer world-class electric vehicles but also to help develop the necessary ecosystem to democratize these eco-friendly and emission-free vehicles.

“This partnership will also explore avenues to maximize the use of renewable energy to make electric vehicle operations greener,” he said.

With one of the largest charging networks across the country, Tata Power has been enabling EV owners to use its reliable and accessible charging solutions.

The utility major has expanded its network under the brand name of EZ Charge to over 1,00,000 home chargers, 5,500 public, semi-public, fleet charging points and over 1,100 bus charging stations across 530 cities and towns.

“This collaboration underlines our commitment to accelerating e-mobility by providing an expansive and reliable EV Charging network across India,” said TRPEL CEO and managing director Deepesh Nanda in the statement.

The company has strategically deployed these chargers at diverse and accessible locations such as highways, hotels, malls, hospitals, offices, residential complexes, etc., facilitating the exponential growth of electric mobility in India.

Moreover, Tata Motors’ Ace EV has over 150 service centers nationwide.

The Ace EV features an advanced battery management system and ‘Fleet Edge’ telematics, utilizing smart technologies to improve vehicle uptime and road safety.
